Although the history of our system is deeply rooted in Buddhism and Buddhist teachings, we are a non-religious organisation and welcome students from all backgrounds. The modern Nam Pai Chuan (North South Fist) system was established with 18 core principles, which each centre is still governed by. Grand Master, Lai Khee Choong (the head of the system) developed these precepts and tenets to ensure that the teachings he benefitted from, would be available to any student deserving of them - regardless of their sex, gender or background. They are also used to remain true to the teachings and wishes of Seh Koh San (the Buddhist monk who established the system) that the art should never be used for any impure motive.
